#2800 - Guided Missile Carrier - 1958-59
|
Complex. Intricate operational ability. Clever engineering. The Baker Electric #2800 Guided Missile
Carrier was a very fine toy. Many were made, but most soon lost their rockets and/or pallets.
The spring-loaded rocket body was designed to propel the "satellite" (actually a smaller rocket) into
the air. The large rocket never left the ground. "Satellite" reproductions are available today.
The bold decals give hint to the fact that Nylint freelanced a military application to what was in
actuality an industrial truck. The Missile Carrier is strictly a figment of Nylint's imagination. (See below.)
#2800(?) - Baker Electric Traveloader - 1958-59(?)
|
This is a more accurate representation of the real-life prototype Baker Industrial Traveloader. Very
few of these all-yellow versions exist today, and they are never shown in Nylint catalogs. They may
have been made only as Salesman Samples.
There was no rocket on this version but there
may have been a pallet (color? - who knows?)
The same automotive steering system was used
on the early Michigan Shovels.
