#2600 - Missile Launcher - 1957-59
|
A handsome defensive weapon to be sure, the Naval Defense Coastal Unit Missile Launcher was a
high production toy during its three-year lifespan. It was always offered with the radar dish.
Seems like a lot of names for one toy. The missiles for the Missile Launcher were identical in
construction to those of the Electronic Cannon but were always cast in white plastic instead of red.
The link between prime mover and trailer was a
bit weak and often broke with misuse.
The "pod" headlights were the same as those
used on the Austin-Western Crane.
Here's another case where the box is almost as interesting as the toy! This time there were a total of
seven targets - three more gained by printing ships on the opposite side. This may have made it more
fun for the child, but now makes it much more difficult for today's collector to find an intact box!
