| As the company neared the closing of its doors in 1959 it sold the remaining Super Yardbirds to Popsicle for use in their 1959-60 sweepstakes campaign. A Popsicle Red Ball Express Super Yardbird was the Grand Prize and featured on the cover of the entry form. 200 were awarded regionally across the U.S. This well preserved example belongs to Mr. George Gregory of Traverse City, Michigan. Note large wheels on late version flatcars - using up old inventory? - or better rolling on backyard tracks? Strange. |
